Shed and Garden Building installation from the Shed experts in Bath, Norton St. Philip!

Installation Information

All the Sheds and Garden Buildings we sell are designed for DIY assembly, and most are sold in a kit form (usually in panel form) with all fixings, fastenings and assembly instructions included. Two people with basic DIY skills and tools can manage to assemble almost any of our Sheds and Garden Buildings within a few hours.

If you simply don't have time,if DIY isn't your thing, or you want the installation carried our by our very own professional and experience team of fitters, then of course we can also offer our professional installation service for all Sheds and Garden Buildings however there is an additional installation charge for this service, the charge is dependent on the size of your Shed or Garden Building.

To keep costs as low as possible and pass on the savings to you, we ALWAYS use our own in-house installation teams.

All Sheds and Garden Buildings require a suitable surface (base) to be installed upon, and these base requirements will vary depending on the type of building, i.e. a timber shed with a floor, will require a completely different base than a timber garage without a floor etc.

Regardless of what Shed or Garden Building you have ordered though, your base needs to be flat, level and firm. Don't scrimp or look to save pennies, as the better and level the base, the longer your building will last.

You'll have to have it ready before your building is installed (if you have chosen for Haven Timber to install). Generally, we don't fit bases, so you'll have to do it yourself, however, Haven Timber have designed and manufactured an innovative solution to ensuring your Shed or Garden Building has the most flat, level and firm base, the SHEDBED, click here for more information. Haven Timber can manufacture a SHEDBED to suit any size and shape Shed and Garden Building or we can even install this base on the day of installation!

But as well as a good base, you'll also need enough space around your Shed or Garden Building to assemble it properly, and also to make sure that you can get around it to maintain it in the future. If you can provide these few simple things, then your building will last for many years to come.

Here is a snapshot of a few of our more common installation questions. We've tried to answer them as clearly, simply and straight forward as possible, however call 01225 720140 or email sales@haventimber.co.uk  if you have any questions or require any additional information.

Is assembly free?
No, There is an installation charge and this will vary from product to product and always depends on the size of the building. Sometimes we offer discounted or free installation as a promotion, this is always based upon availability, suitable site access and cannot be guaranteed.

What is the lead time for professional installation?
Installations are about 4-6  weeks, however this will vary depending upon the Shed or Garden Building and the time of year. During peak season, installations can be as much as 6-8 weeks for some Sheds or Garden Buildings.

What needs to be checked before the installation team arrive?
The installation team needs to be able to find your property easily with a sat-nav. Please give us special directions if you aren't easy to find, as this will avoid them running late for the next customer.

The installation team will need to get their vehicle as near to the installation site as possible, as the large panels need to be carried by hand. Please ALWAYS let us know prior to installation if there are any issues getting close to your address, preferably before ordering also as bespoke size panels can be manufactured to suit access accordingly (Additional charges may apply). Unfortunately our installers aren't insured to carry panels through your house or neighbors house, up-and-over fences or walls, steep slopes, uneven ground etc. In all instances, delivery will be made to the nearest point to your address roadside only, and they will only take your building to it's destination point if suitable and safe to do so. It is ALWAYS your responsibility to make sure that your building can reach the area where you want it to be installed.

Depending on your building, some panels can be extremely large (sometimes in excess of 2.5m) so they may not fit through a standard door, archway, or gate, terraced house etc. Please check that there are no height restrictions, and give us a call on 01225 720 140 if you are unsure and require a site survey (additional charges may apply, bespoke size panels can also be manufactured to suit limited access, again, additional charges may apply.)

Your base needs to be flat, level and firm, (unless you have ordered SHEDBED, in which case we will install this on the day) and don't forget you'll also need enough space around your building for us to install it properly. Normally 600mm (2ft is enough).

What happens if there is a problem, and the building can't be fitted?
Very occasionally the weather can be really bad (we are in Britain after all!), so we may have to re-schedule your installation. If we do (Luckily we very rarely do), we'll re-schedule for the next available day that we are installing.

If the base or access is unsuitable (see above), then we won't be able to complete the installation for you. Unfortunately if this happens, we will leave the building for you to install yourself, and because we would still have our costs (i.e. scheduling, transporting, fuel, wages, etc.) we won't be able to refund you any of the installation charges that you have already paid. However, we can return and do the job at a later date when any problems have been resolved, however there would be a additional installation charge and I'm sure you wouldn't want that and neither do we. There may also be storage charges if we have to hold your building for an excessive period of time, and return delivery charges if we aren't able to leave the building in a suitable location.

What if I change my mind?
If you feel that the item you ordered isn't for you. You can cancel your order as long as it hasn't been dispatched, or if you have received your item and you no longer want to keep it, then you can arrange for it to be returned with 14 days. You'll need to arrange the return transport yourself though, or we can do it for you if you prefer, but if we do, the return costs will be deducted from your refund. You should be aware that the return costs can be substantial (especially if it's a large or bulky item such as a Shed or Garden Building), so always try and order the correct product. These return charges will also apply for refused deliveries. Please call on 01225 720140 if you wish to cancel or change your order. You can also email us at sales@haventimber.co.uk.

Important Note: You can't cancel your order and we can't accept any returns if you have ordered a bespoke or non-stock item and/or production has started, or if it's being delivered to you direct from overseas or the manufacture and is already in transit, so please make sure that you research your product fully before ordering. If you refuse delivery of a bespoke or non-stock item or an overseas or direct from manufacturer delivery, you will be liable for the additional ongoing storage costs of the item, as well as the cost of re-delivery to your address. Please check carefully before ordering your product, that way there will be no unnecessary expense for you or for us... remember we are always happy to help if you need any information before pushing the order button. We always recommend that you read and understand our terms and conditions before ordering.
